The first time two temples were dedicated on the same day was 14 November 1999: the Halifax, Nova Scotia Temple and the Regina, Saskatchewan Temple. This was also the first time since 1846 that a general authority not in the First Presidency dedicated a temple. On the same day that President Hinckley dedicated the Halifax, Nova Scotia Temple, President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, dedicated the Regina, Saskatchewan Temple.
The first time this occurred would have been when Brigham Young, who happened to also be the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, dedicated the Nauvoo Temple. DB
