We’ve all heard the stories of how the Government didn’t help the Saints at the time they were expelled from Nauvoo, however, this isn’t accurate. In fact, the government was instrumental in the establishment of the Saints in the Salt Lake Valley. How so?
a. They surveyed the trail for the Mormons to follow
b. They purchased lands in the Salt Lake Valley for the Saints to settle on
c. They allowed the Mormon Battalion to keep all gear issued to them at the time of their discharge
d. They provided the funds for the first fort built in the Salt Lake Valley
Aided by contributions from the LDS Church, the first Jewish Synagogue was constructed in Salt Lake City in 1903 with President Joseph F. Smith laying the cornerstone.
