Controlling Salt Lake City Politics

The American Party controlled Salt Lake Politics from 1905 to 1911. What was their political stance?
a.                  Liberal
b.                  Conservative
c.                   Anti-Mormon
d.                  Independent
Yesterday’s answer:
b.   Commerce, Illinois
It was a common saying among the inhabitants of the surrounding country, that, if the “Mormons” could live here (Commerce, later Nauvoo), they could live anywhere. It truly was a most unhealthy spot, filled with ponds and stagnant waters, left by the overflowing of the Mississippi River, afflicting all the neighborhood with fevers and agues.
