a. Richard Burton
In 1862, British explorer Richard Burton wrote a book on the Saints titled The City of the Saints. This book was the end result of a visit to Utah in 1860. Elder B.H. Roberts stated that this book was the best book about the Mormons written by a non-Latter-day Saint author during the first century of the Church.
