How many homes did Joseph and Emma live in during 17 years of marriage?
a. The natives couldn’t raise their guns to shot them
The Saints were involved in a battle with the natives just west of Winter Quarters when the Indians captured two of the Saints.
The Indians held a council of war over them and decided that they must be shot. There had been fifteen Indians killed, and they decided they must have what they felt was justice. They appointed a certain number of braves to kill them, but when they tried to raise their guns, they could not raise them. The chief then told the men to get into the wagon and go home.
