(D) Heber J. Grant
The following is in reference to Heber J. Grant:
Heber soon showed qualities of determination and tenacity that would typify his conduct throughout his life. For instance, when he was seven, financial problems made it necessary to sell the family home on main street, located on the site of the ZCMI Center. The boy was seen crying at the front gate and declaring, as he shook his fist at the house, “When I’m a man, I’ll buy you back.” Years later, during a time of financial turmoil in Salt Lake City, Heber J. Grant headed a syndicate that acquired this property, thus redeeming his boyhood boast.
