Shot for his Beliefs, but Miraculously Healed

LDS member, William McMurrin was shot twice in the bowels by a United States Marshall, why was he shot?
a.                  Attempting to escape prison
b.                  Trying to give the President of the United States a Book of Mormon
c.                   Because he was a polygamous
d.                  Trying to convert the United States Marshall
Yesterday’s answer:
a.                  It was an act of Christian charity
The reaction to polygamy would include plenty of humor. Mark Twain wrote. “The man that marries one of them [Mormon women in Utah Territory] has done an act of Christian charity which entitles him to the kindly applause of mankind, not their harsh censure—and the man that marries sixty of them has done a deed of open-handed generosity so sublime that the nations should stand uncovered in his presence and worship in silence.”
