The following from the life of Oscar Middleton Mower: At one time, Oscar and his companion were taken by a mob, and marched under cover of shotguns to the railroad station and were told to board the train and leave the country. They told the mob that they were ministers of the Gospel and were traveling without money. The mob took up a collection among themselves and paid their fare out of the country, sending them to their new field of labor, so they did not have to walk.
