What was the Law of Adoption as practiced in the Church?
a.                  All members being adopted into the House of Israel
b.                  All orphaned children from the Missouri and Nauvoo persecutions, and those whose parent’s died on the trail guaranteed a home with good Latter-day Saint parents
c.                   Members sealing themselves to General Authorities
d.                  The United States Government refused the right to adopt children into polygamous LDS homes

From the life of William Joseph McMurrin:   At the general conference of the Church held in October, 1897, Brother McMurrin was sustained as one of the First Seven Presidents of the Seventies, and was ordained to this position by Apostle Anthon H. Lund, in Liverpool, England, Jan. 21, 1898. Brother Lund was then on his way to the Holy Land.
