From the life of William Miller:   During the dark times which followed in Missouri, William Miller was on constant duty, traveling from Adam-ondi Ahman, carrying messages to and from his brethren whose lives were in danger. He helped to save the printing press and valuable papers by digging a hole in the ground, putting the valuables in, covering them with poles and stacking hay on top. This was a day that “tried men’s souls.”
