From the life of Thomas Jenkins:   Bro. Jenkins was a member of the “minute men” corps, which did such active service during the early Indian uprisings in Utah. In the spring of 1851 he had a most exciting experience in Skull valley; the Indians had stolen a large herd of cattle from the settlers, and while riding at a fast gait in pursuit of the red men. Bro. Jenkins’ horse leaped over a steep precipice, descending in the top of a large tree, which limb by limb gave way and let rider and beast to the ground unharmed.
