According to Samuel Brannan, Brigham Young requested a gift from him in gold dust. How much gold dust was Brigham asking for?
a.                  $1000
b.                  $5000
c.                   $10,000
d.                  $20,000
Yesterday’s answer:
C   Patriarchal Blessings
It is not my intent to examine in depth the disagreements or misunderstandings that developed between William [Smith] and other members of the Quorum of the Twelve. (Briefly, William believed that he held priesthood authority that was superior to that possessed by the Twelve.) William pronounced patriarchal blessings on proxies for two deceased women in June and July 1845. When he asked Brigham Young about blessing the dead, Young replied: “it is not according to the order of the church to confer Patriarchal Blessings on the dead by proxy, until baptism &c has been attended to for them by proxy, which must be done in the Lord’s House.” William continued to pronounce blessings for four months.
