From the life of Edwin Dilworth Woolley Jr.: Mary Elizabeth Woolley, one of the daughters of Dee and Emma Woolley, wrote:: “Besides fighting Indians, Father served as constable, alderman, policeman, etc. in St. George and was away from home much of the time; and often when at home, [he] slept on the kitchen floor with a prisoner chained to his body so the man could not escape, as there were no jails there at that time.
